Emilia Insecta

Periodista, fotógrafa y artista transdisciplinaria residente en la selva valdiviana, Curiñanco. Sus investigaciones enredan poesía, ecologías críticas, ruralidad, pensamiento en torno a lo no humano, la búsqueda de lo invisible y lo cuir. Ha sido parte de exposiciones colectivas y residencias de arte en diferentes regiones de Chile. Úvula, proyecto multimedial sobre micromundos y origen de la vida, es su área de investigación más extensa. En 2023 fue lanzado en formato fotolibro y ha itinerado por diferentes festivales en Chile y el extranjero, obteniendo en 2024 mención honrosa en la feria de fotografía Stgo Foto y siendo finalista del concurso internacional de fotolibros latinoamericanos FELIFA en Buenos Aires. Además forma parte de la colección Interspecies Library, Brooklyn, EEUU. En 2024 realizó el proyecto Corazón de pajarito, investigación territorial y comunitaria sobre aves que devino en una exposición compostable y cuyo paisaje sonoro fue exhibido en Anilla MAC. Actualmente se dedica a las pedagogías con infancias y jóvenes y ejecuta el proyecto Videoarte Úvula (Fondart 2026).

A journalist, photographer, and transdisciplinary artist based in the south of Chile. She explores the intersections of poetry, critical ecologies, rurality, non-human perspectives, the search for the invisible, and queer themes. Úvula, a multimedia project focused on microorganismo and the origins of life, represents her most extensive area of research. Launched as a photobook in 2023, the project has toured various festivals in Chile and abroad; in 2024, it received an honorable mention at the Stgo Foto fair and was a finalist in the FELIFA international Latin American photobook competition in Buenos Aires. It is also part of the Interspecies Library collection in Brooklyn, USA. In 2024, she carried out Corazón de pajarito, a territorial and community-based research project on birds that evolved into a compostable exhibition, with its soundscape showcased at differents museums. She currently focuses on educational work with children and youth and is developing the Videoarte Úvula project (Fondart 2026).
